Coloured or dyed rice is a great sensory experience for all ages, great for digging, scooping, sprinkling, hiding, pouring, feeling, touching etc. It is also a clean sensory experience apart from a bit of sweeping afterwards!
You can make coloured rice by putting a cup of dry rice in a ziplock bag, add a couple of drops of food colouring and a teaspoon of vinegar. Close the ziplock and mix it all together. Dry the rice on baking paper lined trays and there you go! I even think in todays weather in Brisbane, it might even be dry in 1hr!
